Jack has started to have some of his own views on things. We're pretty sure that here, he is telling us that we're doing 'ok' as parents so far, but the heat is getting a little ridiculous. He also seems to have a joke in there somewhere. He thinks it's hilarious. We're thinking the punchline has something to do with a Pollack or an Irishman.

Just Another Day in Paradise
Jack is somehow surviving this Arizona heat. Ben and I have been spending a lot of our free time in the pool with him. That's about the only way we know to beat the heat! We also experienced an unbelievable dust storm. It left our pool in shambles. I just had to post a picture of it. I'm sure many of you saw it on the news. Yes, it was that surreal. Click on the imbedded link to view some footage for those that are out of the loop.
We didn't make it out for fireworks on the fourth of July, but that was more because the adults didn't want to sit in the heat and humidity. Yes, we do get humidity. Ben delighted us all with some firework action in the street in front of our house. Officer Dan had no objections. :)
I start back to school on the 15th of July so that date is rapidly approaching. Luckily Ben doesn't go back until the 4th of August so Jack has some time before he starts going to his daycare. We are lucky to have gotten the last spot in a wonderful in-home childcare. Robin is a former kindergarten teacher and only takes in Chandler teachers' kids so she will be on the same school schedule as us. I am looking forward to getting back to work, but I think after one day I'll have my fill and want to be back home hanging out with this little boy. Enjoy the new pictures!

A Fantastic Visit
This past week we had some visitors staying with us. Angie's sister Katie planned a trip to Arizona with her husband, Mike, and their son Ethan. After quite a few rounds of debates, the decision was made to drive from Minnesota rather than fly. As it turns out, Ethan did exceptionally well. Personally, being trapped in a rear-facing car seat for 26 hours sounds like hell to me. But when Ethan walked through the door on Friday night, he just looked a little dazed.
The week was spent relaxing as much as possible. Every morning started out early with either Jack or Ethan announcing the arrival of dawn. After a little coffee, some breakfast and maybe a brief morning nap, we were usually in the pool enjoying the sun. Jack has spent lots of time in the pool, and his cousin Ethan took to it just as well. He floated in his raft, 'jumped' off the side, and doused himself and those around him with some pretty big splashes.
Angie and Katie also took the boys to the Scottsdale train park, but with the temperature floating around 110 degrees, the trip didn't last too long. Ethan was able to ride the train though, and he and his mom really seemed to have fun.
As for the rest of the visit, we made great use of our pool and had an amazing time just hanging out. It was a very special visit. The boys will hopefully spend many more summers together as they grow. We couldn't have asked for easier guests. Thank you Powell family for a great week. We miss you already.

For Kesley
Uncle Dan's girlfriend, Kesley, has sworn off social networking sites like facebook to use her time more wisely as she prepares for her MCAT's. However, she told us the other day that she's still checking our blog as a way to stay connected, waste a little bit of time online and check out the newest pictures of Jack.
So our thanks go out to Kesley, and to those of you who follow the blog and encourage us to "post more pictures." As Jack turns three months old today, it's another great reminder of how many people are thinking about our new family and wishing us well.
Thanks.

Keeping up to date
Things are getting busy around the Reinhardt house. Jack's growing out of his pajamas quickly, we got a new swing for him to relax in, Mom is working a few hours a day from home for a new job, and we have visitors in from Minnesota. Angie's sister Katie, her brother in law, Mike, and their one-year-old son Ethan drove down for a visit. We're trying to coordinate nap times, pool times and eating between the two boys (and actually all the adults too). I'll write a post about the visit next week, but in the meantime, I wanted to get some more pictures on the blog to let people see just how much Jack is growing.
Having our summers off has meant that we've been able to spend so much time together with Jack. We're reading to him constantly, and he loves it. He's still not a big fan of tummy time (or 'stomach minutes' as I call it), but he is starting to reach for things when he's on his back or in his favorite vibrating green chair.
Below are some of the new pictures. He's not ready to read Harry Potter just yet, but if you asked him, Dr. Seuss would probably be his favorite so far.

A Round of Shots
Jack made a visit to see Dr. Garrett today for a checkup and to get his second round of immunizations. Upon walking into the examination room, the doctor looked at us and said, "Well, you're definitely feeding him."
As of today, at ten weeks, Jack weighs 13 pounds, 13 ounces. He has stretched himself to 24 inches long. This puts him in the 75th percentile for height, and his chubby cheeks have pushed him to the 90th percentile for weight. So he's growing. And very healthy.
Jack also got an oral immunization as well as three shots in his thighs. He screamed a bit (which was really difficult for us to watch), but he calmed down quickly and took a great nap upon returning home. He's been napping on and off which is why I have a little time to write this post. I figured that I would include some of our new favorite pictures of Jack here as well.

Our First Trip!
Jack and I made our first trip together on an airplane. He managed to only cry twice on the plane ride to Minnesota, and on the way back to AZ he was a champ! Not a peep! I tell ya, there's nothing like the looks you get from the seated people on an airplane as you walk down the tiny isle to your tiny seat. The looks seem to say, "You better keep that kid quiet or I am going to complain about you to my ride home from the airport!" It's an awful feeling. Conversely, there's nothing like the feeling of walking by all of those people after the flight and thinking, "Maybe you should talk about how great the baby did on your flight!"
We really enjoyed our trip back home. Ben was in a wedding in Michigan, so he spent a week away from us. He says he missed "us" incredibly, but I know the "us" is really "Jack". ;) I completely understand.
While in Minnesota, Jack, ironically, faced the hottest days of his life. You would think that Arizona would be where he would experience true heat. I am beginning to realize that Minnesota is the land of extremes. Extreme cold and extreme humid heat. So, you are probably wondering what we did on such hot days? Well, Betsy, Mick, Katie and I decided to take the babies (Ethan and Jack) to the Como Zoo! Katie and I are such good moms. :) I bet you'll never guess who couldn't handle the heat? The adults! The boys did great. We headed home and inflated Ethan's birthday present, a pool, filled it up and played in the water. It was one great day out of the many on our trip to Minnesota. Pictures will hopefully be coming soon. :)
